Less work stress.
This client was offered coaching on work behavioural issues.
“My initial thoughts on coaching were that, although it could be interesting, I just didn’t need it. Or rather, I felt I had no issues that were worthy of it – it seemed like something that is more suited to people with big problems. I felt that I had nothing that was of a serious enough nature that needed help of any kind.
However, after a chat about what coaching offers, I realised quite quickly that coaching isn’t exclusive to people with big problems – it can help anyone who just wants to improve the quality of their life. And once I had accepted I did have something – even if it was little – that could do with improving, I realised coaching could really help give me a more positive outlook on life.
By having someone impartial to talk to, it soon became clear that I could solve my own problems with rational thought and by ‘reprogramming’ the way I dealt with things. To define the issue was the first hurdle. Trying to find solutions or ways to help overcome my issues has been hard work and very challenging. Having someone objective there to help me realise that it can be done and that I had their support, is what made me more determined to improve things for myself.
I cannot claim to be a different person – and nor would I want to change myself totally – but I have a much improved outlook on life. To feel calmer and more positive makes it easier to get up in the morning. It has also made work less stressful and I find I am more frequently thinking about my actions before I act to make sure I get a more positive outcome.”

Understandably, it often takes those new to coaching a little while to see what they can gain from the coaching process. I’m grateful for this candid account. AR
